Name:Willowkit WillowpawWillowfall
Age: 33 moons
Gender: She-cat
Clan: Fireclan
Rank: Deputy
Description:
Click.
Slim white she-cat with pale gray spots and pale green eyes
Personality:
Willowfall is given to sudden impulses and moods that can turn on a dime, making her not the most predictable cat to be around, which has led some cats to question Tumblestar’s judgement in making her deputy. Yet despite her capricious nature, Willowfall is unwaveringly loyal to her clan and undeniably brave. She’s insightful, efficient, resilient, and resourceful. She is also stubborn, brash, unforgiving, tactless, and has little compassion for the troubles of other clans and non-clan cats. She sets high standards for others to reach (though none higher than the ones she sets for herself) and is quick to become critical of those that do not meet them. She always strives for excellence, and while having realized not everyone is perfect and failures are a part of life, she expects everyone to at least try their very best.
Important Life Events:
kithood
Willowkit was the only surviving kit to senior warriors Elmfur and Roselight. Her brothers, Cloudkit and Creekkit, died within days of birth, too small and weak to hold on any longer. She grew up unburdened by the loss of her unknown brothers, content to play with older kits from the nursery. She was pampered by her adoring mother, as all of her affected was focused on her sole kit.
apprenticeship
Willowpaw was given to Elmfur to mentor, an act both father and daughter were pleased by. The pair worked well with each other for a time. Despite his love for his one and only kit, Elmfur was no slack mentor, and always pushed her to do her best. Willowpaw in turn became driven to succeed, viewing anything less than perfect as an unacceptable failure.
Yet this drive soon spiraled into an obsession, turning the once content young she-cat into an anxious ball of raw nerves and crippling self-doubt. Elmfur, horrified as he watched the downward fall of his beloved daughter, resolved to help her. He took her for a patrol, just the two of them, and had a long talk with her about how hard work and trying to better ones self were important goals for a warrior to have, but that it was also important to learn how to accept failure with grace and how to learn from ones mistakes. He told her he was proud of her, that he always had and always would be.
On their way back to camp, they were jumped at the Stoneclan boarder by a raiding party. Elmfur fought bravely, but was overcome and killed. Willowpaw managed to fight her way back and escape to warn the clan. The Fireclan patrol she carried back on her heels was enough to drive out the enemy warriors and earned Willowpaw her warrior name, but it didn’t matter to her. She had failed. She hadn’t saved her father.
warriorhood
Willowfall was sullen and withdrawn the first several moons of her warriorhood, preferring to hunt alone and snapping at others for the smallest of things. She replayed that day dozens of nights as she dreamed, horrible nightmare that left her starting up suddenly. She felt weak and pathetic, and that only made her angrier at herself. It was a bad cycle, one she was slipping down faster than the troubled patch she’d had as an apprentice. And it was at this time that the leader decided to give her an apprentice of her own.
His name was Mousepaw.
Overgrown, overfriendly, overenthusiastic; Mousepaw was everything she didn’t want to be around. He reminded her of her own ambitions and hopes, which in turn only reminded her of her failure. She drove him hard, hoping the young tom would snap and beg their leader for a new mentor. But the most extraordinary thing happened: he didn’t bend. While he often made mistakes, Mousepaw never seemed to be hindered by them, always picking himself back up and trying again to do everything Willowfall told him. She remembered the last words her father had spoken to her, about how accepting failure and learning from it, and suddenly felt two very conflicting feelings of shame and relief. She understood and it absolved her.
Everything changed. Her relationship with her apprentice improved dramatically as she began to support and encourage him. Her personality improved as her hostilities and sullenness retreated into distant feelings of the past. She became more active in the clan and in her clanmates lives. And when the time came for their old leader to lose their last life, the new leader Tumblestar made Willowfall her deputy.
deputized
Newly deputized, not many eventful things have happened over this course of time. Willowfall, against some cats’ suspicions, has made a good deputy. She is organized and efficient, balancing her responsibilities almost effortlessly.
